In Pictures: Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza 2019

The Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza is one of the mainstay events in the automotive calendar. Though primarily geared towards classic, oftentimes rare, and incredibly high-value automobiles, concept cars that made their debut at auto shows over the last 12 months are sometimes invited to attend and some new concepts make their debuts as well.

This year, the undeniable highlight was the BMW Garmisch, which Marcello Gandini designed while he was working at Bertone in 1970. The concept was recreated after it mysteriously disappeared following its debut at the Geneva motor show that year. Unveiling such a recreation at an automotive event such as the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza makes sense, given the location, the significant contribution that Gandini has made to automotive design over his formidable career, and, of course, the fact that the annual Villa d’Este event is run and managed by BMW Group.

The event was also well attended by automotive aficionados from all walks of life, including enthusiast celebrities and of course, automotive designers. The downpour offered up by Mother Nature on Saturday did little to dampen their spirits.

Here’s a collection of photos by our friend Dominico Savio Lee from the 2019 edition of the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza.
