Compared to a Smart it was an ugly thing and the dull range of colours didn’t help. Toyota made no effort on customisation which is essential in this market. The transmissions were pretty feeble especially the auto. But worst was the accommodation. Lots of nonsense was written about how many people it sat. I couldn’t get 2 kids into it without howls of complaint. The Aygo was a far better and not much bigger solution and sold accordingly. It was also a lot cheaper.

The original Mini killed off the bubblecars because it offered a better solution. The Aygo probably did the same for the IQ.

So, is a Toyota-BMW in our future? Or will it be a BMW-Toyota???
